INTRODUCTION: A study on antihypertensive usage in a tertiary care teaching hospital necessary to realize that drugs inappropriate use represents potential hazard the patient and unnecessary expenses. METHODOLOGY: prospective, observational analytical was carried out for six months from November 2019 April 2020 inpatient different departments Mysore district with aim antihypertensives. RESULT: total 332 patients were taken into study. 32% (103) age group 41-50 years, this found be higher male population, 57%. During study, 51.6% stage 1 hypertension, followed by prehypertension 2 hypertension. most common class prescribed ACE inhibitors, 31.1%, CCB 21.4%, medication captopril 21.7% nifedipine 14.3%. Diabetes mellitus comorbid condition, 35.7% associated hyperthyroidism 14.5%.
